The Julians are a very special family. Marlou and Jeff are parents to 3 amazing boys, Niko (10), Nathan (8), and Nixon (4).
Nathan was diagnosed with cerebral palsy due to an injury after birth and as a result is a medically fragile quadriplegic. Even though Nathan can’t speak, he communicates with his expressive face.
Because of his disability, Nathan receives all of his nutrition and medication through a g-tube that goes directly into his stomach. He also struggles with swallowing, and battles frequent illnesses that can last for weeks. His doctors are recommending he a tracheotomy to help with his breathing. Many other surgeries are scheduled as well as to improve his quality of life.
Jeff is active military, serving in the Army for 22 years which included an 18 month tour. His service to our country takes away from his family leaving Marlou a single parent often.
Marlou is currently lifting Nathan (about 70lbs) out of his chair to place him in their vehicle which has over 140,000 miles. She then has to lift the chair, which doesn’t compact, into the car. This is repeated many times daily.
This family cannot accrue any debt with a military salary. Our goal is to award this deserving family with a more current vehicle, very low mileage and completely modified.
