Eden Turnbow contacted SFF in the fall of 2016. We had completed our grant giving for that year but had promised that they would be our first family granted for 2017. Mathew and Eden had Anna 6 years ago. She was a healthy baby but a few short days after her birth, a complication with neonatal jaundice resulted in a rare condition called Kernicterus.
Anna’s liver was unable to process her bilirubin fast enough which resulted in damage to the cerebellum, limiting her vision, hearing and movement (Athetoid Cerebral Palsy). In spite of being confined to a wheelchair, Anna participates in dance and loves performing. She wrote SFF a beautiful thank you note with her foot after receiving her van.
What a great way to kick off 2017.
